Philosophy

Based in Miami, Podhurst Orseck, P.A. concentrates primarily in trial and appellate litigation. The firm’s civil tort practice places a chief emphasis on aviation, automobile, products liability and medical malpractice litigation.  The firm also has substantial commercial, criminal and complex commercial tort litigation practices. Podhurst Orseck attorneys serve clients and corporations throughout the United States, and in many foreign countries.

A Tradition of Excellence

Podhurst Orseck is dedicated to providing the highest caliber of representation possible in state, federal and trial and appellate courts.  “Caliber” is measured by proficiency, personal attention, zealousness and ethical conduct.  The firm’s philosophy is rooted in a half-century practice of close working relationships between attorneys, staff and clients.

We believe that it is critically important to exemplify the principles of honesty and hard work while helping clients achieve their goals.

Podhurst Orseck strives to recruit and retain top caliber talent.   Many of our attorneys are graduates of the nation’s top law schools.    Turnover of both attorneys and staff is extremely low for the industry; most of our attorneys and staff have 20-plus year tenures with the firm and the office manager has worked for Podhurst Orseck since 1971.

Aaron S. Podhurst and other senior partners strive to perpetuate the firm’s high standards by mentoring younger lawyers to pass-on the generational legal torch. The workloads and performance expectations are intense, but even the most senior partners help and mentor new associates.  In a very collegial, almost familial atmosphere, Mr. Podhurst keeps abreast of each attorney’s cases and every attorney is aware of what the next is doing.  This process provides continuity, flow and the right amount of assistance to each attorney in their casework.

Dedicated to the Community

Podhurst Orseck encourages lawyers to get involved in the community and civic organizations as a way to positively impact lives.  Aaron S. Podhurst has set the example through decades of community service, including serving as head of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, an executive board member for the University of Miami, a member of the board of directors of Community Partnership for the Homeless in Miami and chairman of the board of the Miami Art Museum.

Robert C. Josefsberg is involved in a number of community organizations which address substance abuse issues and prevention among youth.  He also received the Florida Bar Tobias Simon Pro Bono Service Award in 2009 and 2010, the highest honor bestowed annually by the Florida Supreme Court on a member of the Florida Bar for outstanding contributions in pro bono service.   Stephen F. Rosenthal was appointed by President Barak Obama’s re-election campaign as State Counsel for Florida – a general counsel-like position in which he led an organization of over 4,500 volunteer attorneys in voter protection efforts.  Peter Prieto serves on the Advisory Board of the University of Miami School of Law’s Center for Ethics & Public Service and on the Alumni Advisory Board of the University of Miami Law Review, among other volunteer activities.
