Florida Attorneys With Aviation Experience

Podhurst Orseck is respected as one the most prestigious plaintiffs’ advocate aviation law firms in the world.  Since the firm was organized in 1967, civil litigation practice has been, and continues to be, one of our premier areas of emphasis.  Our firm’s aviation expertise began in 1972 representing victims of the crash of Eastern Airlines Flight 401 in the Florida Everglades. The firm has been involved in hundreds of aviation-related cases since the 1970’s. The firm’s volume of plaintiff’s aviation-related cases is among the highest for firms our size in the United States.

In the last four-and-a-half decades, Podhurst Orseck litigators have represented victims in more than 40 major commercial air disasters.  Additionally, the firm has represented hundreds of clients in the field of general aviation disasters involving privately owned, non-commercial use, aircraft.

We have experience with all types of aircraft accidents including parachute, gliders, single and multi-engine airplanes and rotorcraft.  We handle cases from small-horsepower piston aircraft through turbine helicopter and multi-engine jet powered aircraft.  These types of cases run the gamut from complex state actions to federal multi-party, multi-district litigation actions.

Our Practice Experience Spans the Globe

We are proud to have played an important role in the development of aviation jurisprudence over the past 40 plus years.  During that time, we have gained significant knowledge and experience in the practice of aviation litigation.

Our aviation attorneys are fluent in all matters regarding aviation and the science and mechanics of flight.

As the general aviation market turns to fuel alternatives, we are already at the forefront of four-stroke diesel engine technologies, which have found their way into the Diamond Aircraft Industries airframes.   As other technologies develop, become approved and ultimately are implemented in aircraft, Podhurst Orseck attorneys are keenly aware of the science in these advancements.  Handling aviation mishaps over the last forty plus years has given us a level of familiarity and proficiency with virtually all aspects of the law with respect to aviation

“To represent clients effectively in aviation cases, it’s important to understand how the industry works.  You need to know how air controllers operate, what procedures a pilot and maintenance crew must follow and how airlines operate.  When you cross-examine an engineer, pilot or manufacturer, you have to recognize an opportunity to dig deeper into the issue.” – Aaron Podhurst, Founding Partner
