Bio

Laura Rodríguez brings more than fifteen years of experience in the news media industry to Podhurst Orseck. She leads the firm’s ongoing marketing communications strategy, including managing brand visibility, media relations, expanding the firm’s referral and business development networks, and overseeing community engagement initiatives.

Her passion for the community, investigations, and story-telling began when she was 8-years-old. Rodríguez brings a wealth of transferable skills in her role as Director of Communications and Community Affairs. She is proud to represent the boutique law firm with a global reputation and proven results.

Laura’s experience building relationships and understanding public sentiment directly supports her work in community engagement. She can also communicate complex information to diverse audiences to foster meaningful connections.

Before joining NBC6 South Florida in 2013, Laura was a general assignment reporter at CBS58 in Milwaukee and the 10pm co-anchor for Noticiero Telemundo Wisconsin. Prior to that, she was a weather anchor at Telemundo Chicago.

Some of the most notable stories she covered include an interview with President Donald Trump, the Champlain Towers Collapse, the Parkland school shooting, Pope Francis’ visit to the United States, and the shift in Cuba-U.S. relations under the Obama administration.

Laura is bilingual and often contributed content, live shots, and stories for NBC6’s sister station Telemundo 51.

Laura is a proud graduate of Northwestern University where she founded the first Spanish-language newscast and where she was also part of the award-winning Northwestern News Network team.

In 2010, Rodríguez received a scholarship award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. She is also an award recipient from the Society of Professional Journalists. 

Laura is actively involved in philanthropy through her work with Ronald McDonald House Charities supporting families with critically ill children. She is also deeply committed to expanding access to early-intervention therapies for children with special needs across Florida.

Laura is fluent in English and Spanish and also understands Portuguese. When she’s not working, she enjoys trying new restaurants, drinking cortaditos, or spending time with loved ones.
