Widely recognized as a top-tier international litigation boutique with deep experience in high-stakes aviation matters, Podhurst Orseck has been selected as the winner in the Transportation (Aviation) category of the 2025 National Law Journal Elite Trial Lawyers awards.

“Handling complex, technically challenging cases has long been a cornerstone of our practice. What sets Podhurst Orseck apart is the depth of our experience and the extraordinary talent of our team. We’re proud to be trusted with these cases and to deliver results that truly matter, and are thrilled to receive this honor from the National Law Journal in recognition of that work,” said Lea Bucciero, Partner at Podhurst Orseck.

The prestigious program honors plaintiffs’ firms that have demonstrated exceptional performance through innovative litigation, significant results, and a steadfast commitment to justice.

“We are proud of the work we do to hold powerful actors accountable and help our clients pursue justice even in the most complex, cross-border disputes,” said Podhurst Orseck Partner Ricardo Martinez-Cid. This recognition is a reflection of the dedication and excellence of our entire team.”

One case receiving the prestigious recognition involves internationally known music producer “Flow La Movie” and other victims of a 2021 plane crash in the Dominican Republic. Podhurst Orseck represents the family of the music producer. The case centers on alleged mechanical and maintenance failures and is proceeding in U.S. court after the team successfully defeated a motion to dismiss filed by charter operator Helidosa Aviation Group.

In a second matter, the team secured a nine-figure settlement for Aviator Capital, a Miami-based aircraft leasing company, after Russian authorities unlawfully seized its aircraft and engines following the 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Despite policy language requiring payment under such circumstances, insurers initially refused coverage. The team reached resolution with the majority of defendants and is now preparing for trial against the final insurer in a case with global implications for the aviation insurance industry.

“For decades, our firm has fought for justice on behalf of deserving clients all over the world. We diligently prepare every case to win at trial if necessary. It’s a privilege to learn from and work with such a talented and committed team,” said Associate Zachary Gorwitz.

Additional winners for individual categories with finalists will be unveiled during the upcoming awards event at the JW Marriott Essex House in New York City on July 10. View the full list of honorees here.
