Former NFL fullback Kevin Turner has died at the age of 46 following a six-year battle with ALS. Turner, who played for the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles, was a lead plaintiff in a major concussion lawsuit against the NFL and represented by Podhurst Orseck, believing his condition was linked to repeated head trauma from playing football. Following his 2010 diagnosis with the disease, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, he became an advocate for player safety and research. His father, Raymond Turner, announced his death and stated his son was “ready to go to Heaven.” In a final act of service, Turner’s brain and spine were donated for further research into the connection between concussions and ALS.
