The National Football League has received approval from the Federal Aviation Administration to become the first major sports organization to fly drones over its stadiums. The league’s production company, NFL Films, plans to use the drones to record footage on non-game days around the stadiums. Aviation lawyer Steve Marks commented on the development, stating it could popularize drones for advertising but also carries risks. The FAA approval comes with restrictions, limiting flights to daytime, under 400 feet, and away from people not involved in the production.
