Denver, CO – Video shared by passengers on AA Flight 3023 on social media shows people evacuating the jet at Denver International Airport.

The Boeing 737 MAX 8 was due to fly to Miami International Airport on July 26, 2025, but the airline says a maintenance issue with an airplane tire caused the aircraft to be taken out of service for inspection.

“This is the type of aircraft that unfortunately in recent years despite being the latest and greatest Boeing aircraft has had a lot of safety issues,” Podhurst Orseck’s Pablo Rojas told FOX 31 Denver.

The flight was carrying 173 passengers and six crew members. American Airlines accommodated passengers on another flight the same day.

Photos shared by passengers also showed smoke billowing into the air.

The airline told several news outlets five people were checked by medics at the scene and one was taken to the hospital.

“These are very, very dangerous situations in general when a tire blowout happens. The bottom line is that these things are not supposed to happen. We represented victims in a similar crash because when you board an aircraft, this should not be in the cards,” said Rojas.
