A 2016 survey by The Florida Bar indicates that while Florida lawyers are largely satisfied with job security and their relationships with coworkers, only 57 percent would choose to enter the legal profession again. The poll of 705 lawyers, directed by Mike J. Garcia, highlights that client expectations and achieving work-life balance are major factors impacting their ability to practice law. Economically, the survey found a positive trend, with fewer firms reporting hiring freezes or layoffs compared to previous years and many expecting an increase in business. Despite an improved fiscal climate and rising hourly rates for some, only 63 percent of respondents reported being satisfied with their salary and fringe benefits.
