An Illinois attorney, Robert A. Clifford, has been appointed to lead the consolidated lawsuit against The Boeing Co. following the Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crash. The lawsuit combines 97 individual complaints regarding the disaster that killed 157 people when a Boeing 737 Max 8 plane crashed in March. Steven C. Marks of Podhurst Orseck PA will serve on the executive committee for the plaintiffs, who allege the crash was preventable and caused by a defective flight stabilization system that Boeing was aware of following a similar Lion Air crash less than five months prior. While Boeing has denied responsibility, citing the actions of third parties, the plaintiffs’ counsel expects the case to proceed to a courtroom trial rather than a settlement.
