Aviation experts have criticized Malaysian authorities for fueling misleading speculation regarding the disappearance of flight MH370. Steve Marks, a lawyer with Podhurst Orseck who has represented victims of other crashes, stated that theories such as terrorism or pilot suicide are “remote and farfetched” and damaging to the victims’ families. Marks believes the most probable cause was a sudden, catastrophic technical failure, indicated by the complete lack of communication or radar data from the aircraft. David Learmount, an editor at Flightglobal, added that Malaysian agencies are likely not sharing all available information and that a lack of coordination has hampered the search effort.
