Two years after the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, law firms Podhurst Orseck and the Hays Firm have filed 30 lawsuits against Boeing Co.. The suits, filed in Illinois, claim that investigations have eliminated all other possibilities, leaving a defect in the Boeing 777 as the only explanation for the crash. Lead plaintiffs’ attorney Steve Marks argues that because investigators found no issues with the crew, weather, or maintenance, and no evidence of terrorism, a manufacturing problem is the only remaining cause. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau determined the crash was likely caused by a massive sequence of electrical failures that left the pilots without control. Marks anticipates jurisdictional challenges but believes the lack of wreckage will support the inference of a product problem, strengthening the liability case against Boeing.
