UPS Plane Crash Updates

Avia Capital Service, a subsidiary of the Russian state conglomerate Rostec, filed a lawsuit against Boeing in the United States, aiming to cancel its order for 35 grounded 737 MAX jets. The Russian unit is demanding the return of its $35 million deposit, an additional $75 million for “lost profit,” and around $115 million in compensatory damages, alongside punitive damages, totaling over $225 million plus penalties. A spokesman for Avia Capital Service stated that while the suit was filed due to delivery delays and losses, the company remains open to negotiating a “mutually-beneficial out-of-court settlement” with Boeing’s executives. The ordered aircraft were intended for Russian air companies, including the low-cost carrier Pobeda.
