The automakers claim they are victims of Takata’s deception, but lawyers for the car owners, led by Peter Prieto, argue the companies independently knew about the dangerous airbags. Car owners are suing for economic damages, alleging the automakers continued using the faulty airbags despite this knowledge and misrepresented the safety of their vehicles.
