$2.8 Billion Settlement in Blue Cross Blue Shield Anti-Trust Litigation

After more than a decade of litigation and settlement negotiations, a judge granted final approval of a landmark settlement between Blue Cross Blue Shield and a class of medical providers. Founding partner, Aaron Podhurst, was appointed to the Plaintiff Steering Committee. Peter Prieto served as the Chair of the Experts Committee.

$1.5 Billion Settled in Takata Airbag Class Action Litigation

The Takata Airbags multi-district litigation is the largest automotive recalls in U.S. history. Podhurst’s Peter Prieto was appointed to be the Chair Lead Counsel for the Plaintiffs. Eight automakers settled, totaling more than $1.5 billion.

Industry-Changing Settlement for Victims of SilkAir Flight 185

Steve Marks secured an industry-changing nine-figure settlement for the families of victims of SilkAir Flight 185, which crashed in Indonesia in 1997.

$1.2 Billion Judgment in Champlain Towers South Collapse

Ricardo Martinez-Cid and Lea Bucciero played pivotal roles on behalf of the wrongful death victims as court-appointed plaintiffs’ counsel following the Champlain Towers South condominium collapse in 2021. The tragedy left 98 people dead and a community in mourning. A historic $1.2 billion settlement was reached in less than a year. Ricardo Martinez-Cid was court-appointed lead counsel for all Wrongful Death and Personal Injury cases. In addition, Podhurst Orseck individually represented 30 decedents.

In the aftermath of the Parkland school shooting of 2018, Podhurst Orseck represented victims’ families in litigation against the FBI over how the agency handled tips warning about the gunman. A federal judge appointed Kristina Infante as Lead Counsel for the Plaintiffs. The lawsuit concluded in a milestone settlement, the largest civil settlement against the FBI in history.

$410 Million Settlement with Bank of America

Aaron Podhurst helped secure a $410 million settlement in multi-district litigation over unfair overdraft fee practices. The case impacted more than 13 million consumers and resulted in one of the largest consumer settlements in U.S. history.
