April 2024 – In 2021, Circuitronix, LLC, a Florida-based, global distributor of printed circuit boards, was sued in federal court in Florida for breach of contract by long-time business partner in China, the manufacturer Jianmeng Benlida Printed Circuit Co., Ltd. (“Benlida”).

Benlida sought $13.5 million in damages claiming Circuitronix failed to pay more than 400 invoices. Circuitronix counter-claimed for a similar amount.

Podhurst Orseck assumed lead counsel role in early 2023, handling discovery, dispositive motion practice, and trial on behalf of Circuitronix.

In October 2023, the court granted Circuitronix’s motion for summary judgment, gutting Benlida’s claims entirely. The case proceeded to jury trial on Circuitronix’s counter-claims later that month.

After a six-day trial, a jury awarded Circutronix $7.6 million in damages.

“I was really impressed by the jurors’ attention to what was a fairly detailed and tedious body of evidence about two companies doing business together over a decade, and it gave me renewed faith in the jury system,” said Stephen Rosenthal, partner at Podhurst Orseck.

After post-judgment motions, the Court entered an amended final judgment of $11.67 million for Circuitronix in April 2024.

Stephen Rosenthal, Matthew Weinshall and Christina Martinez of Podhurst Orseck represented Circuitronix LLC, against the counter-defendant, Jiangmen Benlida Printed Circuit Co., before U.S. District Judge Robert Scola of the Southern District of Florida.
