UPS Plane Crash Updates

A class-action lawsuit has been filed in Florida against General Motors Corp. on behalf of Miami resident Maria Elena Santiago. The suit, one of several nationwide, alleges economic loss due to a dangerous defect in the ignition switches of 2.6 million recalled vehicles. Santiago’s 2007 Saturn Ion experienced a stalling incident, and the lawsuit claims the vehicle’s value has significantly decreased due to the known defect. Attorneys from Podhurst Orseck and Higer, Lichter & Givner contend that GM knew about the faulty switch for nearly a decade and concealed the problem to avoid costs. The lawsuit accuses the automaker of fraud by concealment and violations of consumer protection acts in both Michigan and Florida.
