A class-action lawsuit filed in Miami against major Norwegian salmon farming companies will proceed after a motion to dismiss was denied. The lawsuit alleges that these companies conspired to artificially control the price of farm-raised salmon sold in the U.S. by exchanging sensitive information. Attorneys for the plaintiffs, Peter Prieto of Podhurst Orseck and Michael Lehmann of Hausfeld LLP, state that new evidence shows manipulation of the NASDAQ Salmon Index was a key part of this strategy. The legal team will now move forward with discovery, which includes obtaining documents and sworn testimony from key witnesses, with a potential trial scheduled for May 2023.
