A Dynamic International Airways Boeing 767 jetliner caught fire at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport after a critical fuel line component was found to be disconnected. The National Transportation Safety Board’s investigation revealed the aircraft had been in dry storage for 29 months before being leased by Dynamic in September. The fire occurred as the jet, bound for Caracas, Venezuela, was taxiing for takeoff, prompting an emergency evacuation of the 90 passengers and 11 crew members. Aviation accident attorney Steve Marks suggested the long storage period could have played a role in the fuel line assembly becoming disconnected. The NTSB is continuing its examination of the component, flight recorders, and maintenance logs to determine the cause.
