Former Buccaneers and Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes is suing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for $20 million, claiming his NFL career was ended by a MRSA infection. The lawsuit alleges the infection occurred in August 2013 due to the team’s unsanitary working conditions and negligence. Filed in Broward County Court, the suit claims the Buccaneers actively concealed ongoing infections and failed to employ necessary sterile techniques. Two other players, guard Carl Nicks and cornerback Johnthan Banks, were also affected by the outbreak. Tynes is seeking compensatory damages for lost salary as well as substantial pain and suffering.
