The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have moved a $20 million lawsuit filed by former kicker Lawrence Tynes to a Florida federal court. Tynes alleges that he contracted a career-ending MRSA infection at the team’s training facility due to the organization’s negligence in maintaining clean conditions. The team argues for federal jurisdiction, stating the claims are preempted by the Labor Management Relations Act and require interpretation of the collective bargaining agreement. Tynes claims he contracted the infection from shared facilities after a procedure on his foot, while the team allegedly concealed other MRSA cases among players and staff. Represented by Podhurst Orseck PA, Tynes plans to file a motion to remand the case back to state court.
